The University of Manitoba, informally (U of M, UManitoba, or UM) is a public university of higher education in the province of Manitoba. It is the first and oldest university in Western Canada. The U of M is the largest institution in Manitoba and the 17th largest in Canada in terms of overall student enrollment and campus space. Its main campus is in the Fort Garry neighborhood of southern Winnipeg, with satellite campuses situated around the city. Manitoba is a government-funded, coeducational, nonsectarian university. It is a member of the Commonwealth Universities Association and the Canadian Association of Universities and Colleges.
