Technical University Darmstadt

The Darmstadt University of Technology, or TU Darmstadt, is primarily a member of the TU9 body. The Technical University of Darmstadt is a research-focused public institute based in the city of Germany called Darmstadt. Established in 1877, and in 1899 it was granted doctorate-granting authority. It became the inaugural college in the world to create a chair in electrical engineering in 1882. The university established the first electronic engineering department and unveiled the first degree of electrical engineering program in 1883. In Germany, IT has taken on a crucial position. It was the first university in Germany, designated as a freestanding university in 2004.
