About University
De Montfort University is a research-focused public institute based in Leicester, England, and established in 1992 as a degree offering authority in compliance with the Further and Higher Education Act. Simon de Montfort, an Earl of Leicester in the 13th century who organized the first Parliament of England in 1265, is the inspiration for the title DM University of Leicester. The 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework gave DM University Leicester a Gold certification from the Department of Education.
The University ranking is notable for being ranked 601 out of the top 800 universities in the world. According to the University UK ranking, it is 82nd. According to the DM University World Ranking or the De Montfort University QS Ranking, the university is also ranked between 801 and 1000th.
