The London South Bank University is a tertiary educational government institute for the public, with its headquarters in the London Borough of Southwark. It is close to the South Bank of the River Thames, from which it derives its name. The Borough Polytechnic Institute, which LSBU had previously been known, was given university status in 1992 in compliance with the Further and Higher Education Act. The institution changed its name to London South Bank University in September 2003, and since then, several additional centers have begun, notably the School of Health and Social Care. With more than 15,000 students attending, 2,000 of them are international students from 130 different countries. It is one of London’s most significant institutions. The University strongly emphasizes a practical approach and employability. Its location in the heart of London offers quick access to industries and businesses.
