About University
The University of Bolton is a higher education public institution in the city of Bolton, Greater Manchester, England. It includes 700 academic and professional staff members and over 6,000 students. Its student body comprises around 70% of North West and Bolton residents. The university is a part of Universities UK, Million+, and the North West Universities Association. The Bolton Mechanics’ Institute came into being in 1824, marking the beginning of the University of Bolton. The Committee of the Mechanics’ Institute determined in 1887 that the rapidly increasing engineering advancements occurring at the turn of the nineteenth century required technical training for the town’s apprentices. Due to this, a new Technical School was set up and its enrollment grew to almost 1,500 students. Bolton Technical School changed its name to a college in 1926. A new structure giving a wide range of technical education options, with engineering being the most popular, came to light fifteen years later. One of the most effective university employability programs in the North West is Bolton’s Careers and employability service. Students may identify and become ready for graduate programs, full-time employment, internships, and placements with the support of the careers team.
