Program language requirementHere are the English language proficiency test requirements for admission to the University of Waterloo: Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): Minimum score of 90 overall, with at least 25 in writing and 25 in speaking. Do not submit TOEFL MyBest Scores and TOEFL Essentials—institution code: 0996, department code: 00. IELTS Academic: Minimum score of 6.5 overall, with at least 6.5 in writing, 6.5 in speaking, 6.0 in reading, and 6.0 in listening. Accept electronic Test Report Form (TRF). CAEL or CAEL online: Minimum score of 70 overall, with at least 70 in writing, 70 in speaking, and 60 in each band. PTE Academic: Minimum score of 63 overall, with at least 65 in writing and 65 in speaking. Cambridge English test (C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency): Minimum score of 180 overall, with at least 176 in writing, 176 in reading, 176 in speaking, and 176 in listening. Duolingo English test: Before July 1, 2024: Minimum overall score of 120, with minimum Literacy and Production scores of 110. Part timeworkEntirely: During planned school breaks, such as the summer or winter holidays, international students studying in Canada are frequently permitted to work entirely.
