Bournemouth University is a public university established in 1992. The QS World University Rankings 2024 rated it #731–740. According to the Guardian University Guide 2024, it ranks 99th. Moreover, it comes 81st in the Times University Guide 2024. With an overall score of 4.0 stars, Bournemouth University is rated 401 in Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings. It is especially well-known for its media programs, and BU is acknowledged as the UK’s only Centre for Excellence in Media Practice. The admittance rate at Bournemouth University is 51 percent.

Entry Requirements: Undergraduate

High School: Higher Secondary (HSC) Certificate/Intermediate students who have finished a one-year foundation program, like the BU International Foundation Certificate, are not eligible for immediate admittance.

A-level: AAB– BBC

International Baccalaureate: An overall score of 28 – 31 points.

Postgraduate

Students who have completed a one-year foundation program, such as the BU International Foundation Certificate, yet hold a Higher Secondary (HSC) Certificate or Intermediate, are not eligible for instant entry. 

English Language Requirements: Undergraduate

IELTS: 6.0 total with no less than 5.5 in each component. 

TOEFL: 92 total with a minimum score of 19 in writing, listening, and reading and 20 in speaking

Postgraduate

IELTS: 6.5 total (with a minimum of 5.5 in each of the four component scores

TOEFL: 100 overall with a minimum score of 20 in writing, listening, and reading and 20 in speaking

Bournemouth University scholarship

BU Sport Scholarship

EntryFor classes beginning in January 2025 and September 2024. Scholarships are non-transferable.
Eligibility• Any candidate enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program offered by BU
• Perform well on the athletic field and have the drive to advance both academically and athletically.

  1. High-level athletes wishing to attend BU for undergraduate or graduate study are eligible for the BU Sport Scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to give you the financial support you require to further your athletic skills.
  2. Up to £5,000 in funding can be applied for, and the funds can be used for coaching, equipment, competition registration fees, travel costs, or support services.

You will be required to participate in our trial process and undergo evaluation by our coach in order to be considered for a BU Sport Scholarship.

EntryFor classes beginning in January 2025 and September 2024. Scholarships are non-transferable.
EligibilityAnybody wishing to enroll full-time in a graduate or undergraduate program at BUYou have to be able to show that you are an accomplished musician or vocalist and that you have participated in group activities.

ValueFree music lessons are provided to music scholars, along with other in-kind benefits including test expenses and help with music purchases. This works out to about £600 a year.

  1. Two references will need to be cited in your application. Referees can be anyone who is qualified to write about your musical ability, such as your ensemble conductor, director of music, music teacher, vocal/instrumental coach, etc. The online reference form must be filled out and submitted by them.

Scholarships will be given for your first year of study and may be renewed if you continue to meet the requirements in later years.
