Scholarship inclusions: | The scholarship package includes a stipend of $31,500 (AUD) annually for three (3) years. The Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) pays tuition for domestic students. A tuition waiver will be awarded only to international students. |
Scholarship exclusions: | International student scholarships do not cover an Overseas Student Health Care (OSHC) (opens in new window) insurance coverage. This cost, which is required for the duration of the student’s studies in Australia, is the student’s responsibility. The award does not cover travel, visa, relocation, and other fees. |

Scholarship releases feature strict commencement dates. You have to commence your studies by the dates indicated for the applicable release.
To commence your studies by the required date, you must:
- Be onshore in Australia and hold a valid visa that allows you to study in Australia or
- Be onshore in Australia and be able to obtain a visa that will enable you to remain in Australia to study.

Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan Scholarships
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Western Sydney University have partnered to provide Pakistani students with top-notch research training at Western Sydney University.
If accepted, students will enroll in Western Sydney University’s Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program and work on a supervised research project.

- HEC will provide an international return flight to Australia, a stipend living allowance, and a contribution to overseas student health coverage.
- Since the scholarship inclusions could vary, you should verify them on the HEC International Scholarships website (opens in a new window).
- Successful applicants will be eligible for a Western Sydney University tuition fee waiver scholarship, which will cover tuition costs for a maximum of 48 months.
Eligibility
- Be a citizen and permanent resident of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan at the time of your application.
- Have submitted an application for an HEC Overseas Scholarship (opens in new window) and received an invitation to apply from HEC.
- Satisfy the Australian Government requirements for a student visa(opens in new window) for postgraduate research.
- Have applied for admission and meet all admission entry requirements, including English proficiency.
- Received an offer for admission into a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program at Western Sydney University.
- Have received a conditional offer for a scholarship from Western Sydney University.
- Satisfy all other eligibility criteria as defined by HEC.
