RMIT University of Australia, Melbourne, is a research platform for higher learning known as RMIT University, or more formally, the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Francis Ormond established University in Australia in 1887 as a night school in response to the Australian industrial revolution. RU offered courses in technology, science, and art. For more than a century, it operated as a private institution. In 1992, it merged with the Phillip Institute of Technology to create a government university. It is Australia’s top dual-sector educational institution, with over 95,000 higher and vocational education students enrolled. It is also one of the richest colleges in Australia, with an annual income of over AUD 1.5 billion. It is the best fine arts institution in Australia and Oceania and is designated a five-star university by Quacquarelli Symonds. It is also ranked 15th in the globe for fine arts courses.
