The University of Otago is a tertiary education government institution in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand. It is the earliest known university in New Zealand and the third longest-running school in Oceania. The university started admitting students in the year 1871. According to the University of Otago ranking, it is among the most esteemed universities and ranked at 230th place. It secures the 2nd position in New Zealand with a high employment rate of 85%. The University of Otago’s World ranking is 217, often known as the University of Otago QS ranking. The year 1869 witnessed the foundation of the University of Otago in New Zealand by a Thomas Burns-led board and given official status in 1869 by an act of the Otago Provincial Cabinet. The Federal University of New Zealand included Otago University between 1874 and 1961 and conferred degrees in its name. Otago has always taken pleasure in being a research-focused university with a stellar reputation around the world. Otago is pleased that 11 of its subject areas are among the list of 100 worldwide. It received awards for five stars plus ratings in 2016, 18, and 22.
