About the Charles Darwin University scholarships for postgraduate students
CDU offers scholarships to overseas students who have demonstrated academic distinction and great success.
The scholarship is non-transferable to another student, semester, course, or year, nor is it refundable or transferable for cash.
What you’ll receive | The scholarship applies to an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree, covering 50% of the tuition fee for the full duration of the course. |

Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must apply to begin studying in S1 or S2 2024 (the intake that is available initially).
- For their selected course, the applicant must fulfill the academic and English language proficiency requirements set by the university.
- Must have completed their highest certification with a minimum overall score of 95%.
- The candidate must be an international student and pay international tuition; they cannot be the recipient of another scholarship from a foreign or Australian organization.
Selection Criteria
- total score for the most recent qualification they have completed
- supporting essays (up to 600 words) explaining your merit for a scholarship
Duration
The scholarship’s tenure is the shortest time requirement to finish the course or when any of the following circumstances apply:
- The maximum Scholarship value has been exhausted
- You have completed your course
- You no longer meet the ongoing eligibility of the scholarship
Ongoing Eligibility
The grantee needs to fulfill all requirements to keep the scholarship:
- Maintain your status as an international student for which you must pay fees
- They must pay their share of the tuition on or before the first day of classes each semester.
- Ensure that you make sufficient educational advancement each semester, maintaining a minimum GPA of 5.3 and no failing grades in any units.
- Obtain permission to lower their study load.
Or
take a semester-long leave of absence, or maintain a full-time enrollment of 40 credit points (0.5 EFTSL) each semester.

2023 ELICOS Scholarship
Applications
An application is not necessary. The assessment of the application is automatic once the applicant applies for a course that meets the requirements.
What you’ll receive
The scholarship covers up to 20% of the tuition, which applies to the ELICOS course.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must apply to start an ELICOS course in 2023.
- Applicants must fulfill the academic and English language proficiency standards set by the university for their selected course.
- The applicant needs to be categorized as an overseas student who pays fees.
- The applicant is not eligible for funding from any other Australian or foreign government sponsorship program.
Terms and Conditions
- This award is only available to recent foreign graduates.
- Applicant must apply to commence study ELICOS in 2023
- Applicants must meet their chosen course’s academic and English language entry requirements.
- Students must be from the international fee-paying students category, paying the total global tuition fee rate to be eligible for this scholarship.
- The scholarship is only available to the ELICOS program for the duration studied in ELICOS and is deducted from gross tuition fees upon enrolment. The scholarship can only be used if a required deposit is provided and no cash alternative is available.
- If students wish to defer their entry to the CDU International College programs to 2024, the scholarship will not be automatically transferred. However, the student will be automatically on the assessment list with the new scholarship scheme for 2024 when it’s available.
- The program requires students to be financially self-sufficient.
- The scholarship is non-transferable to another individual, semester, course, or year, nor is it refundable or transferable for cash.
