Certificate in Mechanical Techniques

The Certificate in Mechanical Techniques at Confederation College is a 34-week Ontario College Certificate program within the Engineering & Technology discipline. It focuses on skilled trades and mechanical practices. This program is ideal for students who want to explore various trades before committing to a specific career path. Mechanical techniques is a sub-discipline that provides foundational skills in machine shop practices, welding, engineering graphics, and industrial design. The program combines classroom instruction with hands-on demonstrations and project-based learning, allowing students to build, design, and create from the first semester. The curriculum aligns with the Mechanical Engineering Technician program, enabling a smooth transition to further study if desired. Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles in skilled trades or can pursue further education in mechanical engineering or related fields. Confederation College has a practical, student-oriented approach, small classes, and close connections to local industries. The program’s flexibility, hands on approach, and obvious continuation to higher programs makes it an excellent introduction for anyone interested in trade skills.
