HDR Scholarship – Research Training Program Scholarship (RTP)
Deakin University Postgraduate Research Scholarship (DUPR)

Value and Duration

A $33,500 annual stipend Relocation allowances for Deakin University students who come from out of state or overseas range from $500 to $1,500 (for single to family).

Doctoral Degree Duration

A stipend of three years and an offset of four years for tuition fees.

Research Master Degree Duration

Two years for the stipend and two years to cover the tuition.

Eligibility criteria

For both domestic and international students, enrolment in an HDR course at Deakin University is a prerequisite for receiving an RTP stipend, RTP fees offset, RTP allowance, or DUPRS benefits.
An applicant must not receive an equivalent award or scholarship from the Commonwealth intended to offset HDR fees.
To qualify for an RTP or DUPRS Stipend, students must refrain from receiving additional funding from other sources to cover their living expenses throughout their study, provided that additional funding is at most 75% of their RTP or DUPRS Stipend rate. Income unrelated to the student’s course of study or received for the student’s course of research but not used to pay for living expenses should not be considered.

Selection Process

Students will receive RTP and DUPRS Stipends after a competitive process described in the ranking guidelines below. Recipients will register as full-time, on-campus students.

Applicants who need an RTP or DUPRS stipend must possess:

Completed four years or more of postsecondary education.
Possess an academic achievement level commensurate with 80% or more in the research component of their prior study, considering prior coursework, pertinent employment experience, research publications, and additional research experience.
Fulfil all additional prerequisites for admission as specified in the Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) Admission, Selection, and Enrollment Procedure.
