La Trobe University provides various scholarships to assist international students pursuing postgraduate studies or research programs. These grants are intended to encourage exceptional academic performance, help with financial difficulties, and draw gifted students to La Trobe’s dynamic research and learning environment.
La Trobe High Achiever Scholarship
Academic excellence is valued at La Trobe University. International students with high academic standing who are considering applying for a postgraduate program will be prioritised for this award.
The La Trobe High Achiever Scholarship recognises international students who excel. For the duration of the program, this grant will deduct 15% to 25% of the annual tuition costs.

The University shall select recipients of the scholarship based on their:

In order to be eligible to apply for this award, applicants must:
- 1. Applying to begin coursework for a postgraduate degree requires that you be a citizen of a nation other than Australia or New Zealand.
- 2. Apply as a new international student for the intakes of 2024–2025.
- 3. Pay all of your fees as a non-sponsored student.
- 4. Not eligible to holders of other permanent visas or humanitarian visas.
- 5. Apply to a course on the acceptable programs list.
How to apply?
After applying for an approved course, applicants will automatically be considered for the scholarship.

La Trobe University Excellence Scholarship – South Asia & Africa
The scholarship gives a 50% reduction on annual tuition fees for international students studying postgraduate coursework programs for the whole course period.

To be considered for this award, candidates must:
- Participate and be a citizen of Mauritius, Bangladesh, Kenya, Nepal, Sri Lanka, or Pakistan.
- Own a WAM* accomplishment of 80% or higher overall.
- In 2023, they can start studying at any of Victoria’s La Trobe University campuses.
- Fulfill the offer letter’s additional conditions and the university’s English language proficiency requirements.

Recipient obligations
- Throughout their studies, they continue to attend one of La Trobe University’s campuses in Australia full-time and achieve good academic results.
- The recipients of the scholarships must consent to serve as ambassadors for La Trobe International as international students. Please refer to the terms and conditions listed in the offer letter during their study period as well.
How to apply?
- Applicants must complete an application for the course starting in the Summer 1 / Term 6 (November) or Semester 2 (July) intake of 2025 at La Trobe University’s Victorian campuses.
- Before the application closing date, applicants must also submit the following documentation:
- An extensive CV
- A four to five-minute video or a 300-word personal essay outlining your qualifications for the La Trobe University Excellence Scholarship. Applicants who have previously submitted for Semester 2 or summer 1/Term 6 of 2025 will be considered for the grant if they fulfil the eligibility requirements. They have to turn in their statement and resume by the deadline.
Regional Scholarship – International Students
The Regional Scholarship is open to international students considering attending one of our regional campuses. Students who receive this scholarship can participate in a prestigious university in a remote part of Australia.

Recipient obligations
- Students must maintain satisfactory academic standing and be full-time students at one of La Trobe University’s Australian campuses while pursuing their education.
- The students must meet the offer letter’s terms and conditions.
- The student should attend a La Trobe Regional Campus to complete the curriculum.

- After applying, candidates will immediately be evaluated for the scholarship based on the course’s eligibility.
- The offer letter will mention the scholarship.

- Candidates must be nationals of a country other than Australia or New Zealand.
