Transforming Our Horizons Entrance Scholarship Program

International students will be awarded entrance scholarships based on academic merit. The scholarships’ selection process automatically evaluates students’ eligibility upon application until all funds are exhausted. The deadlines for the review process are periodically reevaluated.

  • 98% and higher will receive $6,000
  • 95% – 97.9% will receive $2,000
  • 93% – 94.9% will receive $1,000
  • 90% – 92.9% will receive $800
  • 85% – 89.9% will receive $500

This scholarship is awarded to you if,

  1. You will be given priority registration at the start of the new student registration session for the autumn 2024 and winter 2025 semesters.
  2. You receive an offer of on-campus housing for the autumn of 2024 at St John’s Campus, you might have the chance to choose your room in advance.
  3. After Memorial University verifies your full-time undergraduate registration for 2024–2025 and your high school graduation, you will have your scholarship applied to your university student account.
  4. There is no renewal for the Transforming Our Horizons Entrance Scholarship Programme. You must obtain a scholarship standing in your first year of study at Memorial in order to be eligible for scholarships in your second year.
  1. Some external organisations may offer scholarships that can be held in conjunction with Memorial University’s larger award. However, this award may also be replaced with a more valuable general entrance scholarship.
  2. You may also be eligible to receive the scholarship if you intend to participate in one of the Marine Institute’s degree-granting programmes in the autumn of 2024.

Baird-Stephenson Scholarship

Every year, a Memorial University of Newfoundland student in any year or subject of study will receive this $1,000 scholarship. The institution bears the names of Mrs. Edna Baird-Stephenson and her late spouse, who were both former faculty members of Memorial University of Newfoundland. The scholarship will be awarded based on academic excellence. The Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships, Bursaries, and Awards will make the scholarship award.

Automatic Entrance Scholarships

MUN adopts an easier method. Making application easier, you can submit a single application for the majority of their undergraduate grants to streamline the process. You should focus on achieving outstanding academic achievements (usually a 80% or above) as your academic record will be the primary factor considered for scholarship offers.

Memorial university of newfoundland graduate scholarships for international students

Memorial university of Newfoundland generally supports graduate students through stipends instead of traditional scholarships. The student’s supervisor gives out stipends, which are typically funded by research grants or teaching assistantships (TAs). Full-time graduate students in all qualifying research programs, both domestically and abroad, who meet academic requirements are offered competitive financial packages by the institution.

Minimum Guaranteed Stipend

MUN provides full-time graduate students with a minimum guaranteed stipend of $19,000 annually. Any money received from teaching assistantships falls under this category.

Teaching Assistantships (TAs)

These assistantships fund your studies while offering beneficial teaching experience. Their annual worth is $3,000 (September through April).

Internal funding sources

The student’s acceptance into the graduate programme will determine the value of the funding. Among the funding sources are:

  • Fellowships offered by the School of Graduate Studies: $4,000 to $12,000 annually
  • graduate assistantships, which pay between $3,000 and
  • Supervisor grants/contracts: $6,000 in line with the TAUMUN collective agreement; these can range from $3,000 to $15,000 annually.
  • special initiatives funding – ranging from $5,000 to $8,000 per year
