Australia’s University of Sydney is a public research institution sometimes referred to as Sydney University. It is the oldest university in the country, began in 1850, and is one of the six sandstone universities in Australia. It ranks #=19 in the QS World University Rankings 2024. The University of Sydney comes at the 28th position out of all universities in the world. The Times Higher Education World Rankings put the University of Sydney in third position within Australia and 60th place globally.
The award provides a living-costs stipend to outstanding international research students. For international students pursuing undergraduate, graduate, or research degrees, Australia offers a plethora of scholarships. The William Cooper and Nephews’ Scholarship
This scholarship will help the top-achieving HSC student attend the Faculty of Science to pursue a Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

Benefits
The maximum value of this scholarship is approximately $2000 for one year; the exact amount is determined annually and specified in the offer letter.
Who’s eligible
You must:
1. possess the best overall score in the HSC or its equivalent.
2. Be the recipient of an unqualified offer to enroll full-time in the Faculty of Science’s Bachelor of Veterinary Biology or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.
Context:
This scholarship was created in 2023 to honor students enrolling in the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Science’s Bachelor of Veterinary Biology/Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree program. Donations were made possible by William Cooper and Nephews.
Termination
- Begins part-time study without permission.
- Fails to maintain a suitable level of academic performance.
- Is found to have engaged in serious misconduct as judged by the university, including but not limited to.
- Having submitted a scholarship application with false or misleading information.
- Failing to return to school after an authorized leave of absence
- Any other clause in these terms that would result in termination.
- The Scholarship cannot be reinstituted once it has been terminated unless there was an error on the part of the university.

The Sydney International Student Award honors the unique talents and diversity of our international student body. By providing support for their studies at the University of Sydney, we hope to assist driven applicants in realizing their academic and personal objectives.
For the length of their term, recipients will receive a university contribution equal to 20% of their tuition.
Eligibility
To qualify for this honor, you had to:
1. Enroll in an international school.
2. Be a citizen of one of the nations or areas mentioned below.
3. Be accepted as a full-time student starting in 2024 to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree.
4. Not be a citizen of Australia or New Zealand or an Australian permanent resident.
5. At the time of your grant application, you were studying in a University of Sydney degree program. Nonetheless, if you are applying for the prize with a second degree while finishing your degree here, you are eligible.
*The Master of Business Administration (MBA), Executive MBA (EMBA), study abroad, executive education programs, remote learning courses, and students enrolled in a Law Dual Degree route program are not eligible for this prize.

Who’s eligible
At the University of Sydney, you must be studying in one of the following courses:
1. The University of Sydney’s independent adjunct Honors Program.
2. The final year of a combined Bachelor of Advanced Studies with an honors track, or
3. independent Master of Advanced Studies.
Note: International students need to have finished their University of Sydney undergraduate studies.
