Thompson Rivers provides undergraduates and graduates with degrees and vocational training at a teaching and research university. Established initially as Cariboo College in 1970, Thompson Rivers University (TRU) is a member of the network of two-year community institutions that British Columbia established to increase access to post-secondary education and training. Students can apply for various undergraduate scholarships offered by Thompson Rivers University (TRU) to finance their education. Students are awarded scholarships based on academic merit, athletic achievement, artistic talent, community involvement, and financial need. Academic Excellence Award
To be eligible, new students must have earned a minimum GPA of A in their final years of high school, college, or university. The worldwide marketing team will select award applicants based on the submission of program applications and, if qualified, contact them. If selected, candidates might get as much as $2,000. After receiving the first $1,000, qualified students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA to be eligible for the additional $1,000 for a second semester at TRU. This is a new student-only award.
Exceptional Student Award
Students with a minimum GPA of 80% (A-) can directly enter academic studies during their final year of high school, college, or university to be considered worldwide. The marketing team will contact applicants personally if their program applications are qualified for awards.
Candidates may receive up to $4,000 if found. After receiving the first $1,000, qualified students must maintain a minimum 3.33 GPA at the end of each succeeding semester at TRU to be eligible to receive $1,000 for each additional semester, up to a maximum of three semesters. The $1,000 prize is a new student-only award.
Diversity Scholarships
For incoming international students from underrepresented nations (five or fewer on campus), TRU offers global diversity scholarships based on academic excellence. For consideration, students must fulfil one of the requirements listed below: 6.5 IELTS, 88 TOEFL ibt, or 3.0 GPA. Once the student meets the requirements, there is no application process for the scholarship.
Engineering Scholarships
Once accepted into and enrolled in TRU’s two-year Engineering Transfer program, international students will be considered. Each year, two international freshmen will be awarded a scholarship of $3,000 for the first year and $1,000 for the second, totaling $ 3,000 over four semesters
