The Institution of Calgary is a public research institution Situated in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The University of Alberta was founded in 1908, and the University of Calgary was founded in 1944 as its Calgary division. It became a separate, autonomous university in 1966. In the Q.S. World University Rankings 2024, it is rated #182. For undergraduate and graduate students, the University of Calgary provides a range of scholarships and awards. These prizes may be given out based on academic achievement, financial necessity, leadership potential, participation in extracurricular activities, and other criteria.

International students can apply for scholarships designed especially for them, like the esteemed University of Calgary International Entrance Scholarship, which offers $20,000 a year and is renewable for up to four years. Scholarships are also provided to transfer and continuing students.

Eligibility

  1. Accessible to full-time students enrolled in the Faculty of Graduate Studies thesis-based graduate degree program. Residents of Alberta must be students.
  2. Master’s students who have completed no more than 13 months of full-time study toward their degree are eligible for the award when it is given.
  3. Recipients must be PhD students who have completed at most 25 months of full-time study toward their degree at the time of the grant.
  4. Available to students who, when given the award, have completed no more than 25 months of full-time graduate program study and are transferring from a master’s to a doctorate program. The start of the Master’s program will decide the amount of time spent in the program.

Students interested in the award should consult the Graduate Student Association. A recommendation will be forwarded to the Graduate Scholarship Office. The recommendation is subject to final approval of the Graduate Scholarship Committee.

  2. Candidates must exhibit exceptional involvement in the university community and leadership.
  3. This honor can only be given only once.
