The University of Essex is a public research university in Essex, England. Founded by royal license in 1965, this is one of the first institutions that began on plate glass. The University boasts exceptional humanities, arts, sciences, and health capabilities. The four subjects from Essex that rank among the top 10 in the United Kingdom for research quality are modern languages and linguistics, politics and international studies, sociology, economics, and econometrics. In the Q.S. World University Rankings 2024, it ranks #459. The Times University Guide 2024 places the University of Essex Rankings at 56th. According to the Q.S. World University Rankings, the University of Essex comes 50th for “politics and international studies” and 55th for sociology. The Best Global Universities list has the University of Essex at number 633. The competitive acceptance rate at the University of Essex is approximately 74%.
Entry Requirements
For its Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree program, qualifications from a local high school are necessary in addition to prior university or college work.
It recognizes a number of international qualifications, such as the SAT, in which most courses require a minimum of 1100 out of 1600 with 550 in each test, or the International Baccalaureate, in which most courses require grades between 29 and 32.

A GPA of 2.6 or above from an undergraduate degree will be taken into consideration by several of our postgraduate-taught master’s programs. Additional admissions standards and higher entry requirements exist for specific departments and courses.

South Asia Scholarship

Suppose you are an international student from any of the nations above and are responsible for financing your education. In that case, you may qualify for a £4,000 scholarship that will be applied to your first year’s tuition.
How to apply
If you fulfill all the requirements for eligibility, you will be given priority consideration for this prize. You don’t need to fill out an application. Upon receiving your application for a place at Essex, the University will evaluate your eligibility based on the fees you supply and your country of residence.
Eligibility
These scholarships are only for students who are overseas fee payers and are entirely self-funded*.
1. Students must be citizens of one of the nations above and be regularly residing there
2. Students must register at the University of Essex in October 2024–25 for the first year (Year 1) of a full-time undergraduate degree.
3. By July 12, 2024, UCAS applicants must firmly declare Essex as their option. Candidates who join Essex after being rejected by another firm that was their first choice are ineligible. By July 12, 2024, Direct Applicants must accept their offer.
4. The prize cannot be combined with other University of Essex financial aid programs.
5. Selected candidates must be accessible for advertising campaigns.
Students who are not eligible
The following students are NOT eligible for this scholarship regardless of meeting the above criteria:
- Students enrolled in East 15 Acting School classes.
- Students advancing from International Year One to the University of Essex International College (UEIC) Pathway.
- Students enrolled in courses that are often offered entirely online
- Students who don’t typically live in one of the nations on the list
- There are no postponed entrance requirements for this scholarship award. If a student receives a scholarship and then decides to postpone entry until the next academic year, the scholarship will be revoked, and the applicant will be evaluated anew under the terms and conditions that will be in effect for the new planned year of entry.
- Candidates starting their third and second years.
- Students receiving full or partial sponsorship
- Pupils who are evaluated as homeowners.
- Present students whose first year of University of Essex undergraduate studies occurred before 2024–2025.
Academic Excellence International Masters Scholarship

Suppose you are an international student who completed your undergraduate studies in the United Kingdom or abroad and are paying for your postgraduate studies independently. In that case, you may be eligible for a scholarship of up to £5,000, which will be deducted from your tuition. For qualified students with a degree from the United Kingdom, the reward will be £2,000 in value.
For Pakistan
Value: £4,000
63% or higher, if the passing percentage is 33%; 65% or higher, where the passing percentage is 50%; 75% or higher, where the passing percentage is 60%; or CGPA 2.90 or above.
For India
Value: £3,000
Intake in January 2024: Tier 2 60% or CGPA 6.5/10 or 2.6/4

Eligibility
1. Only international students who pay tuition fees and are fully self-funded are eligible for these grants.
2. Students who have successfully finished relevant university coursework in one of the listed nations may be eligible to receive these scholarships. Students must have been residents of one of the other listed nations where a degree from a UK-based university has been granted.
3. University of Essex graduates need to be qualified for this award.
4. Awards given by an organization with its headquarters in one of the nations above but delivered in another will also qualify.
5. Undergraduate degrees, including integrated master’s degrees, must have been given to students with a grade of at least 1. It is not possible to make up a lower bachelor’s grade with a higher master’s grade.
6. To enroll in the first year of a full-time master’s program at the University of Essex in the academic year 2024–2025 alone, students must register in October 2024 or January 2025. This program will grant them MSc, LLM, MRes, MPP, and MBM degrees.
