We provide a range of scholarships up to AUD$60,000, depending on your degree and duration of study. Scholarships for international students cover the cost of tuition fees and, in some cases, include the cost of compulsory overseas student health coverage.
South Asia Excellence Scholarship

This merit-based scholarship recognises applicants with a solid academic background and incentives them to strive to be the best they can be.
Students eligible for this scholarship will be citizens of the following South Asian countries:
- Afghanistan

- Nepal

- Sri Lanka.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you will need to:
- Hold a passport from an eligible South Asian country: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka.
- Commence study in an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program at the university (excluding ELICOS, Enabling, Non-Award, Higher Degrees by Research programs and programs delivered at offshore campuses).
- Be an International full-fee paying student.
- As indicated in your Letter of Offer, be commencing in an eligible program at an Australian or Online campus.
- Only be the beneficiary of a separate University scholarship if prior approval for special dispensation has been obtained from the university.

Benifits
You will be paid AU$1250 per 10 units of study.
The scholarship is valued at AU$10,000 for each year of study under a standard full-time study load of 80 units. The payment will be applied directly to your student account for each term of study in your eligible program(s) as a tuition fee reduction. The amount applied is pro rata and will be adjusted according to approved reduced study load, credit exemptions, progression, or enrolment above full-time study load.

- To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you will need to:
- Be enrolled in any year (including Honours) of one of the approved health studies programs listed for this scholarship with the University of Newcastle.
- enrolled in full-time or part-time.
- Demonstrate academic progress with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.0 or higher and maintain this for the duration of the scholarship.
- Be in financial need.
- You may demonstrate the impact of additional educational disadvantages such as carer, sole parent, long-term medical condition/disability, ongoing effects of abuse, regional/remote disadvantage, English Language difficulty, Indigenous, or Refugee.

- A personal statement (approx. 1 A4 page) outlining your academic achievements, career aspirations in the relevant area of study, and how this scholarship would assist you. This statement will cover all scholarships you are submitting for.
Benefit
The scholarship provides a maximum benefit of $15,000 over the full scholarship tenure.
You will receive $5000 each year, paid as installments of $2500 following semester one and two census dates, usually in April and September.

College of International Education International Pathways Scholarship
Establishment
This scholarship began as an International Pathway Scholarship for eligible students entering the University of Newcastle. It applies to students who have completed an applicable pathway program (Foundation Studies, Degree Transfer, Degree Transfer Extended, and Pre-Master’s Program) at the College of International Education and will progress to their undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program.
Scholarships will be automatically awarded to students who have progressed as per the terms of their letter of offer into an eligible program of study at the University.
Eligible programs include those offered by the following Schools:

- School of Humanities & Social Science
- Architecture & Built Environment
- School of Electrical Engineering & Computing

- Be an International full-fee paying student.
- Have completed Foundation Studies, Degree Transfer, Degree Transfer Extended or Pre-Master’s Program at the University of Newcastle College of International Education as part of a packaged offer into the University.
- Be commencing an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program at the University. Please note, this excludes ELICOS, Enabling, Non-Award, Higher Degrees by Research and quota-limited programs.
- Not be the beneficiary of a separate University scholarship unless prior approval for special dispensation has been obtained from the university.
- Meet all of the financial obligations of a full-fee paying international student, including the full tuition fee and other expenses for the purpose of obtaining your student visa, and in the event that eligibility for the scholarship is not maintained.
