In Southampton, England, there is a public research university called the University of Southampton. The university consists of seven campuses. In 1862, it began. The university comes in at 124 by THE (Times Higher Education) and 78 by QS. IB: Pass, with 34 points overall with 17 points at the Higher Level

Undergraduate Merit Scholarships

Each year we offer a range of subject programs to international fresh students. They are awarded based on academic merit. You can get a maximum of £3,000, which will be deducted from your tuition fees.

What is covered

This scholarship provides a fee reduction of up to £3,000 on your tuition fees for your first year only.

You’ll get a discount of £1,000 for each qualification (or equivalent) that you have, as shown below. The grades you need depend on which Academic School will teach your undergraduate course.

For example, you’ll get £2,000 if:

You’re applying to study a course taught by the School of Chemistry

You have two International Baccalaureate Higher Level subjects at minimum grade 6

British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM

The University of Southampton is proud to announce the new British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM for the 2022/23 academic year.

In partners with the British Council, the University of Southampton is offering 5 fully funded program for female students applying for an eligible programme from several South Asian countries.

The object of this scheme is to help address the underrepresentation of women in STEM by providing opportunities for women from eligible counties to continue with their studies and research in STEM subjects.

Level of study

This scholarship is for postgraduate study.

 Eligible Programmes

MSc Data and Decision Analytics

MSc Actuarial Science

MSc Operational Research

This full scholarship covers:

Tuition fees.

Up to 12-months monthly stipend of £1,133 per month to cover costs of living, including accommodation.

Where applicable, accompanying child allowance consistent with UK visa requirements..

IELTS exam fee where required.

Return economy-class travel from home country to UK.

Study-related costs, such as essential travel, materials, equipment, thesis printing etc.

Visa and insurance / NHS surcharge costs.

Ad hoc costs (heavy baggage allowance, etc)

Female passport holder and permanent residents of one of the following South Asian countries:

                      o   Bangladesh

                      o   India

                      o   Nepal

                      o   Pakistan

                      o   Sri Lanka

Hold an admissions offer letter for one of the acceptable programmes listed above.

Able to take up a full-time course of study in the UK for the academic year from Sept/Oct 2022 – 2023.

Can demonstrate a need for financial support / socio-economic need.

Not be in receipt of financial support or funding towards your study programme in the UK from any other source.

Not previously studied at degree level or higher in the UK or lived recently in the UK.

Be inspire and academically able to follow and benefit from a UK postgraduate taught course.

Active in the field with work experience or a proven interest in their subject area.

Be willing to demonstrate future contribution to capacity-building and socio-economic advancement through the benefits achieved after graduating from UK higher education.

Agree to maintain contact with the British Council and act as an ambassador for the UK and engage with activities as part of a Scholarship for Women in STEM alumnus during and after their studies in the UK.

Demonstrate a plan and passion to engage other women and girls in STEM from their home country.

Agree to their personal data being shared with the British Council as a condition of applying for the scholarship.
