International Research Training Program Scholarship (IRTP)
Value Tuition Fee
Up to 3.5 years for a PhD and 2 years for a Master by Research Living Allowance: 32,500 per year, tax-free, is not included for a PhD or a Master by Research.
Individual or family coverage throughout the program is known as Overseas Health Coverage (OSHC).
Qualifications

By the relevant application date, applicants must make sure that their filled-out application and all required supporting documentation are turned in. Only the committee will take into consideration the entire application.
Be enrolled as an overseas student through the Higher Education Support Act of 2003 in an authorised higher degree by research (HDR) program at the university during the year of the IRTP Stipend (applicants whose enrolment in a postgraduate research program has not been accepted by the university are not eligible for IRTP Stipends).Â
You cannot be awarded, stipended, or paid at a level of 75% or more of the IRTP Scholarship stipend rate in order to complete the HDR. Income from sources other than the course of study is exempt from the 75% requirement.
Need an equivalent Commonwealth grant or scholarship to pay for HDR.
UTS President’s Scholarship
The UTS President’s Scholarship (UTSP) is offered to overseas students with exceptional research potential who are pursuing higher degrees at the University of Technology Sydney. UTSPs cover general living expenditures, and the scholarship cannot be transferred to another university.
Value Living Allowance: $32,500 per year, free of taxes

Eligibility
- To be eligible, a student must maintain a standard OSHC policy that the Department of Health and Ageing of the Commonwealth Government has approved.
- Having yet to complete a degree at the same or higher level as the proposed candidate and being an international student as defined by Higher Education Support.
- Be beginning full-time enrolment in a UTS Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program (applicants whose admission to a postgraduate research program is pending University clearance are not eligible for UTS Postgraduate Scholarships).
- They can only pursue the HDR if they are earning a similar award, scholarship (other than an IPRS), or salary that is greater than 75% of the UTSP stipend rate.
- Studying in a discipline that the university has identified as one of its research emphasis areas means that they can only receive Australian Government funding for postgraduate research if the scholarship is terminated within six months of the financing’s beginning.
