Graduate Student Conference Funding

Funding Available
Note that the amounts shown represent the highest possible quantity. The number of submissions and funding levels determine the actual amounts. Expenses for destination-based funding include lodging, meals, transportation, and registration. Student Travel and Conference Funding.

Eligibility

Students can earn conference money for a single event every academic year (September 1–August 31).
At the event, students need to be actively presenting.
The student may only submit materials created during their graduate program.
Funds cannot be used to get course credits for not attending a conference.
The event dates are within a year of obtaining a graduate certification from VIU or for current graduate students.

British Columbia Graduate Scholarship

Value: $15,000 (non-renewable)

Eligibility

Candidates must be citizens or lawful permanent residents of Canada.
Newly admitted or returning VIU graduate students (favoring the former).
At the time of funding award, students must enroll in their graduate program at VIU.

Application process

The Graduate Scholarship Selection Committee (GSSC) administrative support person, the Student Research Engagement Coordinator (SREC), will receive three nominations from each graduate program by May 31. The GSSC will include materials that the students submit in the application packets.

Note: Vancouver Island University (VIU) primarily focuses on undergraduate studies and professional programs. They don’t offer traditional PhD programs.
