International Postgraduate Tuition Awards (IPTAs) are available to cover international HDR students’ tuition fees in certain circumstances.
IPTAs will be available under the following three conditions:
- Full Course IPTA
- Final Session IPTA
- Financial Hardship IPTA
Full Course IPTA
In addition, a Full Course IPTA will be available to international students who receive stipend scholarships (equal to the current UPA stipend value) to cover their tuition up to 4.0 EFTSL for doctoral degrees and 2.0 EFTSL for master’s degrees.
Final Session IPTA
Available to overseas students looking to finish their thesis with a final session IPTA. International students classified as working overtime in their studies and have an EFTSL (Equivalent Full Time Study Load) of >4.0 for doctoral degrees and >2.0 for Master of Philosophy degrees are also eligible for a Final Session IPTA. Regarding a final session of IPTA, students should speak with their supervisor and present proof that they are almost done with their thesis. If the supervisor concurs with the claim, s/he must apply to the Graduate Research School by the deadline for that particular session.
Financial Hardship IPTA
International students who need an IPTA for a single session due to financial difficulties can apply for this. To file an IPTA for economic hardship, students should speak with their supervisor and submit complete information about their financial situation that prevents them from paying fees. If the supervisor concurs with the claim, s/he must apply to the Graduate Research School by the deadline for that particular session.
