Ontario Tech University Undergraduate Scholarships
In Ontario, Canada, the Ontario Institute of Technology, located in Oshawa, Ontario, is a publicly-funded research institution known as Ontario Tech University or Ontario Tech. 2002 was the founding year of the University of Ontario, Institute of Technology. Ontario Tech University is rated number 1 in the list of Best Global Universities. It rates 601 in Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings with an overall score of 4.3 stars. Undergraduate students can apply for scholarships and honors from Ontario Tech University (previously Ontario Tech), which honors academic excellence and leadership traits.
Global Leadership Award (application-based)
Suppose you are an international secondary school student entering an undergraduate program on a study permit and studying outside Canada. If so, you can apply for the university’s Global Leadership Award (GLA).
One of our most esteemed admission prizes is the GLA. The GLA, valued at CAD 120,000 ($30,000 per year for four years), honors applicants to foreign secondary schools who demonstrate exceptional leadership and intellectual credentials. The GLA is not available to Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
For 2024–2025, the application period is closed.
International Merit Awards
Commencing in September 2024, overseas secondary school students enrolling in the university’s undergraduate program with study permission may be qualified for one of the university’s overseas Merit Awards.
Amount: CAD 20,000 over four years (CAD 5,000 x four years). Admission candidates with an 80% or higher grade point average are awarded International Merit Awards. The university will contact the successful applicants and extend a scholarship offer.
The International Merit Awards are not open to citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
The Global Leadership Award, recognition prizes, Major Scholarships, and In-Course Scholarships are examples of scholarships and prizes that cannot be given in combination with this one.
Student eligibility for renewal
1. Enrolled in 12 credit hours, or at least 80% of the available courses (usually four courses every term).
2. Keep your prior year’s cumulative grade point average at 3.30 or above.
Please be aware that you will only be qualified for this prize if your resident status changes to domestic.
In-course scholarships
The academic accomplishments you made during your undergraduate education. If you maintain a GPA of 3.7 (on a 4.3 scale) from the previous year, you will be given a scholarship immediately and notified through your student email account.
$1,500 – GPA of 4.0 or above
$1,000 with a 3.7–3.99 GPA
You can apply for in-course scholarships for the first three years of your first undergraduate degree. You had to take at least 80% of the courses offered each term during your previous academic year to be eligible for consideration.
Eligibility requirements
The following guidelines apply to all scholarships and awards:
1. Values are liable to alter at any time.
2. Students joining the university directly out of secondary school and within eighteen months of graduation are eligible for entrance scholarships.
3. Never before enrolled in a post-secondary school.
4. Hold up to one scholarship at a time.
5. Courses completed in summer school just before the September term begins and any upgrading marks will not be factored into the grade computations for awards.
6. Must take a minimum of 80% of courses each term.
7. The institution can decide what qualifications, grades, and prerequisite courses are appropriate for entrance and recognition.
8. To continue, all university funding sources must be available and in excellent academic standing.
9. If you fail to complete a term, withdraw from the program, reduce your fee status, or change to part-time status, your scholarship may be reduced, or you may no longer be eligible for funding.
