The criteria for these grants may include involvement in extracurricular activities, financial necessity, or academic success.

Prestigious Entrance Awards

International Student Winter Merit Scholarship

International students are eligible to apply for the International Student Winter Merit Scholarship. In January 2025, the students must begin their first year of a four-year undergraduate program at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) full-time. It is intended for students who demonstrate leadership, excel academically, volunteer, and join clubs.

Please note: that TMU has raised the scholarship value to $10,000 for applicants seeking admission in the winter of 2025. The potential recipient number has been raised to allow 20 pupils to receive the award once. This is a non-renewable award. Apply by July 15, 2024, through AwardSpring.

Key points to remember

1. Deadline for applications: July 15, 2024

2. Must be a first-year international student enrolled full-time in a four-year undergraduate program.

3. A final entrance average of 85% or above, or its equivalent, is required.

4. A personal statement needs to be written and submitted.

5. A gap year shall be one academic year in length.

President’s Entrance Scholarships

Secondary school graduates who exhibit academic achievement, leadership abilities, innovative thought, and creative skills are eligible to apply for the President’s Entrance Scholarship.

There are twelve (12) winners. The prize is $10,000, a renewable annual sum, for a total value of $40,000.

The reserved recipients do not include costs. A bed in the house. This is only available at the International Living/Learning single bedroom with a private bathroom or the Pitman Hall single bedroom with a shared hallway bathroom. Please visit the Housing and Residence Life website for additional information about living on campus.

To be considered, an applicant needs a final admission average of at least 90%, calculated using their best six Grade 12 U/M courses or the equivalent in their home country.

You will be asked to provide the following information on this application:

1. An essay or project summary: this could be a creative essay or a synopsis of an innovative project you have worked on. It must demonstrate your ability to think creatively and independently (limit 500 words).

2. Two (2) recommendation letters:

3. In your reference letter, you should be highlighted for your leadership and creative endeavors.

4. Leadership and creative endeavors should be discussed in your reference letter. It shouldn’t confirm scholastic success.

5. During your last two years of secondary school, you will list the leadership roles and activities you have participated in.

Note: International students, Protected Persons in Canada, Permanent Residents, and Canadian Citizens can apply for this scholarship.

International Secondary School Merit Scholarship

International students are eligible for the International Secondary School Merit Scholarship. The students must enroll full-time in Toronto Metropolitan University’s (TMU) four-year undergraduate program during their first year. Students who demonstrate leadership, excel academically, volunteer, and join clubs are intended for the scholarship. TMU has increased the prize to $10,000 for those who want to apply for admission in the fall of 2024. Furthermore, there are now 40 students who could be awardees. This award is given out only once and cannot be extended.

Key points to remember

1. A first-year international student enrolled full-time in a four-year undergraduate program must be you.

2. An applicant must achieve a final entrance average of 85% or higher or equivalent.

3. Required to submit a brief personal statement.

4. A gap year shall be one academic year in length.
