Algoma University

Algoma University is a government education institution with its primary campus in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. It is commonly known as Algoma U or simply Algoma. In Timmins and Brampton, Ontario, Algoma U also provides satellite programming. It is situated on the former grounds of the Shingwauk Indian Residential School, with a unique goal to promote and facilitate intercultural learning among Aboriginals and other communities. The university, formally known as Algoma University institution, came into being in 1965 and served as an affiliated institution of Laurentian University in Sudbury until June 18, 2008.
