Brunel University is a higher research university with its main body in Uxbridge, London, England. BU came into existence in 1966 and was given Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s name in honor of the Victorian engineer. The Brunel College of Advanced Technology received a royal charter in June 1966 and changed its name to Brunel University of London. The institution is frequently referred to as a British plate glass university. Members of Universities UK, the European University Association, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities include BU London. In 2011, the college received the Queen’s Anniversary Prize.
