An urban campus of a public research university, known for humanities, social science, and business programs, was officially founded on August 24, 1974. Concordia University in Canada ranks #387 in QS World University Rankings for 2024. Concordia University offers a variety of scholarships to help undergraduate and graduate students manage the costs of their education. It currently offers scholarships amounting to $8,000 to $16,000 per year for the academic year 2023-24.

Entrance scholarships

The faculties award scholarships to applicants based on their highest CGP scores or comparable results for entrance into Concordia University. (Canadian high school, for example). Concordia’s acceptance offer does not ensure that applicants will be chosen for Entrance Scholarships.

Eligibility

  1. Full-time students starting their first year of university study are eligible for entrance scholarships provided they have completed CEGEP, Canadian High School or College, or an equivalent programme.
  1. Applicants need to be accepted into the Bachelor’s degree.
  2. Students are not eligible for these awards. Individual students, visiting students, or those accepted into certificate programmes.

Selection

During the admissions process from spring to summer, or until all available slots are filled, we extend entrance scholarship offers and make choices as the faculty.

  1. Academic standing is the primary factor determining the award of most scholarships.
  2. The Financial Aid and Awards Office receives recommendations from faculties and schools once they have chosen candidates.
  3. Only chosen applicants receive notifications. Spring is when selection starts, and it goes on through summer.
  4. The Faculty of Fine Arts programmes with required portfolios are solely based on the submission for selection, not on previous grades.

In-course scholarships

The Undergraduate Scholarships and Awards Committee automatically grants In-Course Scholarships based on the highest evaluation GPA (3.30). Only chosen applicants receive notifications.

Eligibility

  1. The Bachelor’s degree program needs to accept applicants.
  1. Students who have studied at Concordia for at least one semester
  1. Students need to have at least a 3.30 assessment GPA.
  1. Only a restricted number of part-time students are eligible for In-Course Scholarships.

Selection

In-Course Candidates are chosen with consideration of their highest Assessment GPA from the previous academic year in October or November for scholarships. In decreasing order, candidates’ cumulative GPA, programme credits earned, and assessment GPA are used to rate them.

The Undergraduate Scholarships and Awards Committee uses the academic rank lists mentioned above to automatically award the majority of In-Course Scholarships; No applications are needed.

The Undergraduate Scholarships & Awards Committee typically makes choices and extends offers for In-Course Scholarships within the first two weeks of October every year.

Merit scholarship

Value: $5,000 – $10,000 for one academic year

Citizenship: Unrestricted

Degree: Master’s research and Doctorate programs

Deadline: Admissions deadline

To be eligible

  1. To be enrolled in a graduate research-based programme at Concordia University as a graduate student, you must admit or register at this time.
  2. You have to be in the first two years of your Master’s programme. If you’re a doctoral student, you have to be in your first four years of study.
Application and selection

Prospective students should submit their applications for the Concordia Merit Scholarship as soon as possible, as the scholarship application is a requirement for the admissions process. The Graduate Programme Director (GPD) of the programme in which students are enrolled should be contacted by students to find out how to apply for the Concordia Merit Scholarship.

The individual programmes are in charge of choosing the recipients of the Concordia Merit Scholarship.
