Benefits
The scholarship includes:
- A tax-free annual stipend of $40,000; proposer to determine stipend value.
- The scholarship will fund the research training program for a maximum of 3.5 years. Fee Offset Scholarship to pay for Australian, New Zealand, and Permanent Residents’ tuition.
Eligibility
To qualify for this scholarship, a student needs to:
- Be a citizen of Australia, New Zealand, or both; have permanent residency status; be an international student.
- Meet the requirements for admission to the PhD program, which include having an Australian Honours degree Class 1 or 2A or an equivalent qualification (at least AQF Level 8), with a research component of at least six months of full-time study that results in a Distinction (75%) OR having evidence of equivalent research experience, such as a significant first-author refereed publication or a track record as an investigator on a competitive grant.

Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship (International)
Description
The Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarships (AGRTPS) (International) aims to provide financial assistance to foreign students pursuing a higher degree at Flinders University through research. The AGRTPS offers coverage for overseas health care, a living allowance, and an offset for foreign tuition fees.
Please note: The AGRTPS is a Commonwealth Sponsored Scholarship that covers visa requirements.
Only six AGRTPS are available each year, and the scholarship round is quite competitive.

Eligibility
Awards will only be available to those who:
- Are foreign nationals of any nation other than New Zealand who do not possess Australian citizenship, permanent residency status in Australia, or New Zealand citizenship
- In the year the prize is to be given, plan to start studying full-time for a higher degree through research in Australia for the first time. Students who began a higher degree by research in the previous year but were unable to apply for an AGRTPS in that year due to the timing of their admissions and subsequent enrolment or who started a higher degree by research and ended that enrolment within six months of starting may be taken into consideration; and
- Plan to enroll in a focused research field. The university excels in these fields, has focused its research efforts, and has drawn outside financing.
