Requirements for Eligibility
To be eligible for the Italian Government Scholarship 2026–2027, applicants must complete the following requirements:
- Available to people from other countries and Italians living abroad (IRE).
- To apply to a Master’s program, you need a Bachelor’s degree.
- A master’s degree or equivalent is required for PhD programs.
- For research projects, applicants must hold a master’s degree and submit a research proposal approved by an Italian university professor.
- For AFAM or Arts Programs: Applicants must have a diploma or certificate required by AFAM schools.
- For master’s and AFAM applications, you must have been born after January 1, 1998 (you must be under 28 years old).
- People who want to get a PhD must have been born after January 1, 1996 (under 30).
- Research applicants: Under 40 years old and born after January 1, 1986.
- Depending on the language of instruction, applicants must demonstrate fluency in either English or Italian.
- For programs taught in Italian, you need to have at least a B2 level in Italian (CEFR).
- For programs taught in English, you need at least a B2 level of English (IELTS, TOEFL, or an equivalent certificate).
- Applicants must have excellent grades, research experience, and a strong desire to study in Italy.
- People who want to apply must do so from outside of Italy. Most of the time, people who already live in Italy are not eligible.
Deadline (2026–2027 Intake)
- The official call for applications is expected to open in April 2026.
- The submission deadline is usually mid-May 2026 (around May 15–17, 2:00 PM CET).
- Final selection results will be announced by summer 2026, and studies will commence from September/October 2026.
