OCAD University Graduate Scholarships
Enrolling in the first year of the 2023–2024 Fall/Winter academic year, all new graduate full-time students may be eligible for admission scholarships and awards. The Office of Research & Graduate Studies makes decisions.
Graduate Studies Funds
General information
Every year, two funds are available to graduating fourth-year students at OCAD University who want to pursue master’s-level education after graduation. Students should begin their school research as soon as possible if they plan to apply for these funds. There are two substantial funds available:
SIR EDMUND WALKER AWARD
In 1980, the late Dorothy Webb created the Sir Edmund Walker Award in honor of her father,
Sir Edmund Walker. A fourth-year student about to graduate from OCAD University gets the prize, which supports postgraduate studies at the Master’s level in any field.
Value: Prior prizes have ranged from $16,000 to $3,000. Upon application, the prize may be renewed for a further consecutive year.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Fourth-year students only
2. It is necessary to graduate in June 2024 and start studying in autumn 2024 (it must be completed on time).
Submission Requirements
1. A master’s program admission letter (or a copy of your application or proof of registration)
2. A 500-word statement on your professional practice and areas of interest in research from an artist or designer.
3. A 500-word letter of intent detailing your graduation work and its possible influence.
4. Recommendation letter.
5. Transcripts from every post-secondary institution in copy.
ALFRED T. VIVASH FOR GRADUATE STUDIES IN DESIGN
With the help of this bursary, an OCAD University Faculty of Design graduate may study for a year at the master’s level outside of Canada the following academic year (cannot be postponed).
Note: If there are no qualified applicants from the Faculty of Design, students in the Faculty of Art or Graduate Studies pursuing a Ph.D. program can apply for the scholarship.
Value: $18,566.56
Eligibility Criteria
1. Must be a Protected Person, Permanent Resident, or Citizen of Canada.
2. In their fourth year, students must enroll in the Faculty of Design.
3. Must be completing a master’s degree program outside of Canada by June 2024 and starting classes in the autumn of that year (delayed).
If there are no eligible applicants from the Faculty of Design, the fund will be opened to the following groups:
1. Students from the Faculty of Art who will graduate in June 2024 and enroll in a master’s program outside of Canada in the autumn of that same year.
2. Graduate students will graduate in June 2024 and enroll in a Ph.D. program outside of Canada in the autumn of that year.

3. A 500-word letter of intent detailing your graduation work and its possible influence.
4. Recommendation letter.

6. A 500-word letter outlining your financial need and why you think this scholarship will be beneficial (if possible, please describe your student loans or grants with your application).
