One of Australia’s top institutions for teaching and research is the University of Queensland (UQ). UQ has imparted knowledge and leadership for a better world for over a century through education and collaboration with exceptional individuals. Established in 1909 in Brisbane, the University of Queensland (UQ) has offered outstanding study opportunities, top-notch research, and cooperative relationships. The QS World University Rankings 2024 state, it is rated #43. In the list of Best Global Universities, the University of Queensland comes in at number 36.

Outstanding overseas students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs can apply for scholarships. The University of Queensland offers financial aid to international students through a number of merit-based and need-based scholarships. The University of Queensland (UQ), in Australia, is offering a fully funded scholarship program designed to recognise and honour the accomplishments of exceptional school dropouts and gap year students.

International Onshore Merit Scholarship

Eligibility

You qualify if you:

1. They are an international student who finished their most recent degree in Australia.
2. When ranked among the pool of offer holders for programs in their commencement semester, they have obtained a competitive score as assessed by the University.

And you:

1. I have been offered a spot in an approved program to study full-time at UQ starting in Semesters 1 or 2, 2025. This includes most undergraduate and graduate degrees, with a few notable exceptions. Check the rules (PDF, 100 KB) to see if your program is approved.
2. Have fulfilled the prerequisites for program entrance and English language proficiency.
3. Intends to enroll full-time.

And you have not received:

1. Obtain a full scholarship or sponsorship from another organisation;
2. Applicants with partial scholarships or sponsorships may be considered for another scholarship, tuition fee reduction, or rebate from UQ.

How to apply

Applying is not necessary to be eligible for this scholarship.

UQ International Excellence Scholarship

Eligibility

You qualify if you:

1. Are international students who graduated from high school with a 99 entrance rank.
2. Are enrolled in graduate or undergraduate programs and have achieved a GPA equivalent of 6.75 or higher on the UQ 7-point scale.

And you:

1. I have been given the go-ahead to enrol in an approved program and study full-time at UQ starting in Semesters 1 or 2, 2024. This includes most undergraduate and graduate degrees, with a few notable exceptions. Examine the scholarship. Terms and conditions (PDF, 100 KB) to find out if your program is eligible.
2. Have fulfilled the requirements for program entry rank and English language proficiency.
3. Wants to enrol full-time.

And you have not:

1. Received a reimbursement from UQ, a decrease in tuition, or an extra scholarship.
2. Obtained full sponsorship or funding from another organisation (participating sponsors/scholarships may be considered for applications).

How to apply

There is no requirement to apply for this scholarship. If you fit the requirements, you will be immediately considered for this scholarship when you apply to study at UQ.

Destination Australia Scholarship (International students)

Eligibility

You qualify if you:

1. Are students from abroad
2. Obtain a student visa to use the scholarship.
3. Are you a new student
4. Are former students of UQ enrolling in a new program (such as a Master’s after finishing a Bachelor’s)?
5. You must have a complete offer to enrol in a program that qualifies, offered solely at the UQ Gatton campus in 2025 (you may accept your complete offer after the deadline for scholarship applications).

And you:

Will spend the scholarship period studying full-time in the Gatton campus of UQ using the internal study mode.

Stay in a regional area of Australia for the duration of the scholarship, as specified by the Australian Statistical Geography Standard Remoteness Structure 2016 (Australian Bureau of Statistics).

And in 2025, you’re going to begin any of the following programs:

1. Agricultural Science
2. Veterinary Science (Honours)
3. Bachelor of Veterinary Technology
4. Wildlife Science
5. Master of Agribusiness
6.  Agricultural Science master
7. Master of Animal Science

Only part-time courses leading to a Bachelor of Agribusiness degree are acceptable.

Applications are highly encouraged from students with disabilities and from low socioeconomic status (low SES) backgrounds who are pursuing higher education for the first time in their families.
