Campuses near Vancouver and Okanagan, British Columbia, Canada, are where you’ll find the University of British Columbia (UBC), a public research institution. The University of British Columbia (UBC) was founded by the provincial legislature in Vancouver in 1908. It ranks 35th among the world’s finest universities.

The University of British Columbia (UBC) provides different undergraduate scholarships that support students during their academic journey. University scholarship decisions rely on three factors: students’ extracurricular participation, financial circumstances, and demonstrated academic performance.

International Major Entrance Scholarship

International students with outstanding academic records enrolled in UBC’s undergraduate programs can apply for International Major Entrance Scholarships (IMES). When students enroll in UBC for the first time, they obtain their IMES, which they can keep for up to three more years of study. Different scholarships give out various amounts each year, depending on the availability of funds.

The IMES awards for the 2024–2025 academic year will range from $10,000 to $20,000.

Eligibility

To qualify for the IMES, you need to:

  1. Be a first-time student at UBC who came straight out of high school.
  2. Possess a Canadian study permit (student visa) and be an international UBC student. (Any modifications to your citizenship status will impact your eligibility for IMES.)
  3. Exhibit outstanding intellectual potential, academic accomplishment, and noteworthy extracurricular and community commitment.
  4. The quality and need to determine whether or not I still need to receive an International Scholars grant nomination.
