Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you will need to:
- Be commencing study in an eligible program at the University of Newcastle in 2023 and beyond at an Australian or online campus as indicated in your Letter of Offer.
- Be an International full-fee paying student.
- Only be the beneficiary of a separate University scholarship if prior approval for special dispensation has been obtained from the university.
Benefit
Valued at AU$ 15,000 for each year of study under a full-time study load.
This is apportioned over each course (pro-rata with an approved load reduction on program plan, credits exemptions, progression, wellbeing grounds, or for part-year programs like grad certs) and equates to AU$1875 per 10 units of study.

South Asia Excellence Scholarship
Establishment
The South Asia Excellence Scholarship began to attract high-performing students to study at the University of Newcastle. This is a merit-based scholarship that recognizes applicants with a strong academic background and incentives them to continue striving to be the best that they can be.
Students eligible for this scholarship will be citizens of the South Asian counties:
- Afghanistan
- Bangladesh
- Bhutan
- India
- Maldives
- Nepal
- Pakistan
- Sri Lanka.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you will need to:
- Hold a passport from an eligible South Asia country, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka.
- Commence study in an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree program at the university (excluding ELICOS, Enabling, Non-Award, Higher Degrees by Research programs and programs delivered at offshore campuses).
- Be an International full-fee paying student.
- As indicated in your Letter of Offer, be commencing in an eligible program at an Australian or Online campus.
- Not be the beneficiary of a separate University scholarship unless prior approval for special dispensation has been obtained from the university.
Benefit
You will be paid AU$1250 per 10 units of study.
The scholarship value is AU$10,000 for each year of study under a standard full-time study load of 80 units.
Selection
There is no requirement of application for this scholarship.
International Excellence Scholarship (Information Technology and Computer Science)
Establishment
 This merit-based scholarship recognizes applicants with a strong academic background and incentivizes them to continue striving to be the best they can be.
Scholarships will automatically be awarded to students who have received an offer to study in an eligible program and who will commence studying with the University of Newcastle.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you will need to:
- Be commencing study in an eligible program at the University of Newcastle in 2023 and beyond at an Australian or online campus as indicated in your Letter of Offer.
- Be an International full-fee paying student.
- Not be the beneficiary of a separate University scholarship unless prior approval for special dispensation has been obtained from the university.
- Meet all financial obligations of a full-fee-paying international student, including the full tuition fee and other expenses to obtain your student visa,
Benefit
The scholarship value is AU$ 15,000 for each year of study under a full-time study load.
