International Research Training Program Scholarship (IRTP)
Overview
The International Research Training Program Scholarship (IRTP), funded by the Department of Education and Training of the Australian Government, is available to high-scoring. It is for recent research degree students who exhibit exceptional academic success and research potential. The IRTP pays living expenses at the lowest indexed rate set by the Australian Government and the cost of a standard Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the scholarship holder, their spouse, and any dependents (if any).

Eligibility
To be eligible, a student must:
- Be studying as an overseas student as defined by the Higher Education Support Act 2003 in an accredited higher degree by research (HDR) program at the university in the year of the IRTP Stipend (IRTP Stipends are not available to applicants whose enrolment into a postgraduate research program has not been accepted by the University).
- To complete the HDR, you must not get an award, stipend, or salary equivalent to or more beneficial than 75% of the IRTP Scholarship stipend rate. The 75% criterion does not apply to income from sources unrelated to the course of study.
- Not get a comparable grant or scholarship from the Commonwealth to cover HDR costs.
- By the applicable application deadline, applicants must ensure their application is complete and submit all necessary supporting materials. It will only consider the complete application.

UTS President’s Scholarship
Overview
For international students pursuing higher degree research at the University of Technology Sydney who have outstanding research potential, the UTS President’s Scholarship (UTSP) is available. UTSPs cover general living expenses. It is not possible to transfer the UTSP scholarship to another university.

Eligibility
To be eligible, a student must:
- Possess and uphold a standard OSHC policy authorized by the Commonwealth Government Department of Health and Ageing
- Be an international student as defined by the Higher Education Support and not have finished a degree at the same or higher level as the proposed candidacy.
- Be starting a full-time enrollment in a UTS Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program. (UTS Postgraduate Scholarships are not available to applicants whose entrance to a postgraduate research program is pending approval from the University).
- Get an equivalent award or scholarship (other than an IPRS) to be eligible to pursue the HDR. Or salary that benefits them more than 75% of the UTSP stipend rate. The 75% criterion does not apply to income derived from sources unrelated to the course of study.
- Be pursuing education in a field designated by the university as one of its research focus areas. Only receive funding for postgraduate research from the Australian Government if the scholarship was canceled within six months of the start of the financing.
