Western Sydney University Scholarships for International Students 2025
Located in Sydney, Australia’s Greater Western region, Western Sydney Institution, formerly known as the University of Western Sydney, is a public research institution with multiple campuses. Western Sydney University has an overall rating of 4.0 stars and is rated 301st in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
For undergraduate and graduate studies, Western Sydney University provides a variety of international student scholarships. Scholarships of $20 million are awarded annually by the institution and are determined by academic performance.

Vice-Chancellor’s Academic Excellence Undergraduate Scholarships
Benefits | 50% of tuition fees per session for full-time students enrolled for a maximum of three years during the degree’s duration. |
Duration | Three years maximum. |
Programs | Any CRICOS registered undergraduate degree. Note: not including medical doctors, nursing students, and physiotherapists. |
Criteria
- Be an international student who is not a citizen of Australia, New Zealand, or a permanent resident of Australia.
- Started a new course of study in 2025 after being accepted at Western Sydney University.
- Fulfill the scholarship’s academic requirements, which include finishing higher secondary school with an ATAR of 90 or above.
- By the acceptance date, accept their offer of admission after fulfilling all other conditions.
Applicants are not eligible if they:
- Australian or New Zealand citizens, those with permanent residency in Australia, study abroad students, or exchange students visiting the university who are currently enrolled at Western Sydney University and applying for a scholarship for their current program of study who wish to apply for advanced standing for their program before or after enrolment,
- Applying to study at the Sydney City campus and who do not apply to study at Western Sydney University and are accepted by the deadline.
- Have received another scholarship from the university or another group that pays all or part of the tuition for their studies at Western Sydney University.
Application period
Separate application is not required. Students will automatically be considered.
Western Sydney International Scholarships – Undergraduate
Benefits | $6,000 annually for tuition (up to 240 credit points or a maximum of three years) or a $3,000 annual tuition contribution (up to 240 credit points or a maximum of three years). |
Programs | All CRICOS registered undergraduate degrees, excluding Doctor of Medicine, Master of Research, and Higher Degree Research programs. |
Eligibility
Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance in a Year 12 degree or its equivalent, which Western Sydney University accepts as a prerequisite for entrance.
Applicants must:
- Be an international student who is not a citizen of Australia, New Zealand, or a permanent resident of Australia.
- The scholarship will end if your visa status changes to one of these during the study period. You will have to apply to study in an undergraduate program registered with CRICOS for the first time.
- Meet the academic eligibility requirements for the $6,000 or $3,000 multi-year scholarship, fulfill all other admission requirements, and accept their admission offer.
Applicants are not eligible if they:
- Are a citizen of Australia or New Zealand, or hold permanent residency in Australia
- Study abroad or an exchange student coming to the University.
- Currently enrolled at Western Sydney University and applying for a scholarship for their existing program of study.
- Are seeking to make an application for advanced standing for their program before or after enrolment.
- Do not apply to study at Western Sydney University and acceptance by the closing date.
- Are applying to study a program located at the Sydney City campus.
Have been awarded another scholarship by the University or another organization that covers the cost of the tuition fees (fully or partially) to study at Western Sydney University
Application period
Scholarships will be granted on a first-come-first-served basis until filled.
Students are advised to accept the scholarship as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment.
Sustainable Development Goals – International Undergraduate Scholarship
Benefits | Fifty percent (50%) of tuition fees per session for full-time enrolment for the duration of the degree up to a maximum of three years. |
Scholarship Conditions | Three years maximum. |
Eligibility | New international students commencing in 2025. |

Applicants must be:
- Send in a completed admissions application at least two months prior to the start of the session.
- Be an international student who is not a citizen of Australia, New Zealand, or a permanent resident of Australia. The scholarship will end if, during the study period, your visa status changes to one of these.
- Start a new course of study in 2025.
- Have been offered admission to Western Sydney University to meet the scholarship’s academic requirements, which include completing higher secondary school with an ATAR of 90 or higher.
- Fulfill all other admission requirements, and accept the offer of admission by the acceptance deadline.
Applicants are not eligible:
- A citizen of Australia or New Zealand, or hold permanent residency in Australia.
- Study abroad or an exchange student coming to the University.
- Wishing to apply for advanced standing for their program before or after enrolling.
- Applying for a scholarship for their current program of study while enrolled at Western Sydney University, applying to study at the Sydney City campus, or not applying to study at Western Sydney University and being accepted by the deadline.
- The university organization has awarded another scholarship, which covers the tuition fees (fully or partially) for students to study at Western Sydney University.
Application and selection process
Submitting separate scholarship applications is not required. Scholarships will be automatically awarded to new university applicants.
