Laurentian University offers a variety of scholarships and bursaries to support graduate students, including Master and PhD programs.
Graduate Teaching Assistantship/Fellowship
Eligible full-time domestic or international students who achieve the required average of 75% are offered Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTAs) to teach classes. The awards are split between employment and fellowship.
1. Laurentian University Canada pays master’s students $9,741 ($4,758 in salary twice a month and $4,983 as a graduate fellowship, in a single installment into their accounts.
2. Laurentian University pays $14,124 ($7,058 biweekly as salary to doctoral students and $7,066 as a single installment for graduate fellowship) into their respective accounts.
Appointed students must provide up to ten hours of teaching help per week. Only students enrolled full-time in the first two years of Laurentian’s graduate master’s program or the first four years of the doctoral program are eligible for GTAs. If a student has fulfilled the prerequisites mentioned above, they are eligible for a GTA (Graduate Teaching Assistantship). After being admitted, you must register for classes during the academic year’s autumn and winter terms.
Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS)
Any Canadian citizens or permanent residents enrolling full-time in a Master’s or PhD program at Laurentian University are eligible to apply for this outstanding grant. It offers $15,000 annually for a maximum of two years (Master’s) or four years (PhD). The Faculty of Graduate Studies typically receives applications in October, with a deadline of January.
Dean’s Entrance Scholarship
The Deans of each Faculty award them to a limited number of deserving students entering
Master’s or PhD programs. The value varies depending on the faculty and the availability of funds but can range from $1,500 to $3,000. Students are automatically considered for admission based on their academic records without the need for a separate application.
