Types of Institutions in Germany

There are three types of higher educational institutes in Germany:

  1. Universität (University): These are research-oriented institutes that offer a diverse range of academic fields and are permitted to award PhD degrees.
  2. Fachhochschule (University of Applied Sciences): These are practice-oriented institutions that provide professional education in technical and business sectors. While they may offer certain doctoral programs, they primarily grant bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
  3. Kunst- und Musikhochschule (University of Fine Arts and Music): These are specialist institutions that provide programs in the arts, music, and other disciplines. Educating professionals on the creative and entertaining aspects.

Entry Requirements

Academic Qualifications: Diploma or ACCA type qualification is not acceptable for Public universities admission in Germany. So DAE students can not apply. HSSC: 50% marks required (typically 60-70%) (can apply for German Language course of 6 months + Foundation 1 year. After this student will start BS 3 years in german medium or in English medium too).

Bachelor’s: CGPA of 2.5 or equivalent (if less then case to case). (He can apply for Master Degree in English medium).

For Direct entry to bachelors (A Levels Students): GCE A-levels: Four subjects are needed, including math/science and a language. Three must be A-levels, language can be an AS-level.

Subjects: Two must come from List A, the third can be from A, B, or C (limited options with C).

Study Germany Language Test: IELTS/Test DaF cannot replace a missing GCE language.

Language Proficiency

IELTS: Minimum 6.0

German Language Proficiency

Proof of German language proficiency is mandatory for some programs. This can be demonstrated through exams like Test DaF or DSH. Some English-taught programs may accept English language proficiency tests like IELTS or TOEFL.

Note: Inter student will apply for 6 to 8 months German language (fee around 3500 to 4000 Euros) + 1 year Foundation program free of cost in German medium.

 A-levels student with 4 subjects (3 academic + 1 language) can also apply for Direct English medium Bachelors.

Admission Intakes

Winter Semester (September/October): Most popular intake. Applications typically start in February to April with deadlines in mid-July.  

Summer Intake (March/April): Fewer programs offered. Applications usually start in November with deadlines in mid-January.

Please Note: For German language course leading to Foundation or Degree, there is an intake available after every 2 months. Tuition Fees: Fee Range: Zero to 15000 Euro.

Spouse Visa

Yes, you can apply for family reunion visa.

  1. Apply if your spouse has a valid German student visa.
  2. Gather marriage proof, relationship proof, spouse’s student status proof, and your financial proof (blocked account).
  3. Apply at the German embassy/consulate along with required documents.

Post Study Work Visa

As an international student, after graduation you are allow to have post study work visa for upto 18 months. If you secure a job with a German employer during this time can lead to a work visa based on your employment contract (e.g., Blue Card).

How to apply for the visa for Germany?

Gather all the required documents given in the Visa Checklist (Original) (Ensure they are translated into English and legalized).

Book your appointment online and get conformation E-mail:

  1. Conformation Email will include a reference number.
  2. You should have received your confirmation email within 30 minutes.
  3. Fill Visa Application form.
  4. Fill declaration form.
  5. Visit the Embassy in person along with all documents

Language

  1. In English Degree, some courses are in German but no worries you’ll be prepared for it as the time comes for those courses because German language courses are offered in university
  2. Some universities don’t need IELTS, as you show them that your last degree medium of language was English. But minimum band for IELTS is 7.

CGPA Margin Conversion

  1. In Pakistan, Good CGPA is 4, whereas Bad is 0 CGPA. But in Germany, Good is 1 whereas Bad is 5.
  2. Good CGPA percentage is 75% (German Grade 2.5) although admission not only depends upon marks but on your experience & letter of motivation etc.

Work experience:

Prior work experience

  1. 1-3 years of field experience is good.
  2. In some universities, Experience Letter for admission is compulsory
  3. If you’ve job experience, then it’s quite easy to get the job in Germany

Part time job in Germany

  1. 20 hours/week.
  2. Hotel etc. or in university.
  3. Minimum wage is 8.84 euros although 12/h16/h euros is considered good wage.

How to write a Motivation Letter?

It must be of:

  1. 1500 Words
  2. 13- 18 short paragraphs
  3. Preferred font Times New Roman
  4. 11pt or 12t font size
  5. Heading and University name on Top – Middle
  6. Make it personal, lessons or thing learned from education, work experience, different courses & how can we implement it in masters or extend our knowledge.
  7. Tailor to degree of interest, Things learned from Data Science and wanted to learn can’t be implemented on AI Letter.

Printed Documents

  1. For example, if applying for two universities both universities application forms must be printed, signed and dated

Attested Documents

  1. From Notary Public, attested within Rs 10.
  2. Matric & FSC transcripts, Bachelor’s Degree & Transcript
  3. IELTS Result and it’s Transcript
  4. For example, if applying for 3 universities so their application form must be different i.e. 3 sets but other documents must be one.

Payment Information

  1. Use vis card or ask someone living in Germany
  2. Finally, for sending use DHL, TCS or Leopards.

How Much Time Should I Wait?

  1. Uni Assist takes 2-3 weeks.
  2. Then they forward email of German CGPA and forward the documents to universities. This process further takes 4 weeks.
  3. It’s Compulsory to check every university’s requirements & Send Documents Earlier.

Acceptance received

Initially

  1. If selected by university where preference is low, continue the visa process & wait for other universities.
  2. Two types of copies are sent for acceptance Soft Copy & Hard Copy.
  3. After receiving mail send them a reply “Thank you for the admission & now I’ll be continuing with my visa process”.

Apply for Accommodation

  1. It’s quite difficult to get the accommodation in big cities (350- 550 euros) like Berlin and Munich as compared to medium cities (150-350 euros).
