About University

Capilano University is a non-private institution with the primary mission to focus on teaching and research. It works on the Northside Mountains’ slopes in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The Sunshine Coast, the Sea-to-Sky Corridor, and other adjacent areas are all served by its programs. Chief Joe Capilano, who presided over the Squamish people from 1895 until 1910, is honored with the university’s name. The Ministry of Advanced Education, Training and Skills of the Government of British Columbia has approved the degree courses offered by Capilano University Canada. The University Act of British Columbia sets forth the university’s legal authority to issue degrees. The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (or NWCCU) in Washington, a member of the six major local organizations in the U.S. authorized by the U.S. Department of Education, accredited CapU in 2012, making it the initial university in Canada to do so.
