Edmonton, Alberta, Canada’s downtown is the site of  MacEwan University, a government undergraduate institution.The college, originally known as Grant MacEwan Community College, began in 1971. As a tribute to the author, educator, and former lieutenant governor of Alberta, Dr. J. W. Grant MacEwan, the university chose that name. The college got permission to offer university transfer credit in 1988. The first baccalaureate degrees were held by MacEwan in 2004, the year school began to award degrees.

The institution was formally renamed (Grant MacEwan University) on September 24, 2009, making it Alberta’s sixth university. Although legally still known as Grant, the university changed its name to “MacEwan University” in September 2013 for all public communications and marketing efforts.The university supports a learning environment that is both globally aware and culturally sensitive. Its goal is to lead the way in internationalization while educating all students, teachers, and staff. It is also crucial to develop inside it and contribute to its economy as members of a global community.

Ranking:

According to the 2023 rankings, it ranks 2082nd globally with high academic performance. Moreover, this institute consistently holds an excellent 53rd place in the MacEwan University ranking in Canada. It also comes among the top 50 percent of universities on 13 research topics. In addition, according to the MacEwan University QS ranking, it ranks 2082. Furthermore, in Alberta, it ranks 5th out of the 12 universities and 2nd in Edmonton out of the 5 universities. Besides that, 59% is the MacEwan University acceptance rate.

University programs:

Ten bachelor’s degrees, one applied degree, and 43 diploma and certificate programs are all available at the university. Additionally, it is Alberta’s biggest post-secondary university for transfer students.  Moreover, the university’s four colleges and two schools provide courses in engineering, physical education, nursing, business, liberal arts and sciences, health and community studies, and nursing. In addition, the university also provides programming for university preparation and English as a Second Language courses, in addition to non-credit professional and personal development courses on a part-time basis. More than 12,000 full-time students take part in credit programs, and slightly over 19,000 students join both credit and non-credit programs, with more than 60% of the student population being female.
