Olds College

Olds Agricultural College began in 1913 and is now known as Olds College of Agriculture & Technology. It is a public post-secondary college in Olds, Alberta, a small town that’s about an hour away from Calgary. The initial students at College studied field husbandry, farm mechanics, and domestic science when the school first began in 1913. It changed its name to Olds Agricultural and Vocational College in 1963 to better represent its expanding modern educational offerings that went beyond agriculture.

In 1970, the name was modified to Olds College Alberta. The main campus of the College, which spans 2,500 acres, is on the eastern end of Olds Township. As a result of a collaboration with the Calgary Stampede Board, the Calgary campus began operating in 2006. It is on the south campus of Bow Valley College. The Alberta Rural Development Network, which promotes rural community development via cooperation, research, and service delivery, includes the college among its members.

Research Infosource Inc. ranks the College of Agriculture & Technology among Canada’s Top 50 Research Colleges in the top 10. In addition, the College Smart Farm and ongoing development of the Smart Ag Ecosystem placed the school in the top ten this year. Furthermore, it ranks third in terms of college research income growth. It ranks seventh in college research intensity and tenth overall (dollars per researcher). Moreover, the College ranks among the top 10 small-tier colleges in research partnerships, completed research projects, paid student researchers, and industrial research income. Aside from that, we are honored to be one of the top ten research universities in the country. Furthermore, according to the country rankings, the institution is ranked 129th in Canada.
