A government institution, the University of New Brunswick (UNB) has main campuses in Fredericton and Saint John, both in the region of New Brunswick. It is one of the oldest public colleges in North America and the country’s English-speaking university. Seven Loyalists who had fled the United States following the American Revolution formed UNB. Among UNB’s two primary sites are the main campus, which came into existence in Fredericton in 1785, and a smaller campus, established in Saint John in 1964. Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, a branch of Dalhousie University, is located on the Saint John campus and serves the English-speaking province of New Brunswick. In addition, there are two offices in Beijing and the Caribbean, and two modest satellite campuses for the health sciences in Moncton and Bathurst, New Brunswick. With cutting-edge facilities, the institution has maintained its position as a hub for cutting-edge research and innovation in Canada for more than 230 years.
