University College Dublin is a non-private post-secondary institution working in Ireland’s main city Dublin. It is also a constituent institution of the National University of Ireland. John Henry Newman was the institution’s first rector when it began in 1854 as the Catholic University of Ireland. It got recognition in 1880 and updated its charter in 1908.
