Leeds Beckett University
Leeds Beckett University is a higher education government establishment for the public situated in West Yorkshire, England. The university was previously known as Leeds Metropolitan, and prior to that, Leeds Polytechnic. The University to London, came into existence in 1824, marking the beginning of the institute. Incorporated in 1970, Leeds Polytechnic was a component of the Leeds Local Education Authority till 1 April 1989, when it separated to become a separate Higher Education Corporation. The organization became accredited as a university in 1992. In September 2014, the present name (LBU) was chosen.
