Concordia University is aware of the financial challenges associated with graduate study. They provide grants, fellowships, and a comprehensive scholarship program to lessen that burden. The following summary will assist you in determining your funding options.
Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES)
Category Alberta Scholarship Program, Graduate Students, Indigenous
Application Deadline Variable
Value $11000 Master’s; $14,000 Doctoral
The Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship recognizes exceptional academic success in students pursuing graduate studies in Alberta. The most talented students, including those from abroad, were encouraged to pursue their studies in Alberta. Students must enroll full-time in a master’s degree program or a course-based, thesis-based PhD or doctoral program at the Concordia University of Edmonton.
To be eligible, students must meet the following requirements:
- Be a citizen of Canada, a permanent resident of Canada, an international student with a study permit, or a protected person as defined under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada), subsection 95(2).
- Be enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program that is course- or thesis-based.
- Possess a minimum of 60% enrollment in the entire course load. Students who enroll in at least 40% of a full course load and have a verified permanent handicap may be eligible. Payment is not available to students who switch to part-time enrollment.
- Albertan residents can enroll in and attend in-person or remote learning courses.
- Showcase academic achievement on the last nine credits of graduate-level study, either from Concordia University of Edmonton or another institution. As judged by Concordia, students must be in good standing (at an institution and program level). Only those accepted as ordinary graduate students will be taken into account. Research, academic contributions, and a track record of prior intellectual accomplishments can also indicate academic success.
- Applicants who currently hold a Canada Graduate Scholarship from NSERC, CIHR, or SSHRC are not allowed to submit an application.
Application Procedures: Students must check with their Graduate Programme Director on their internal deadlines and procedures, and they must nominate themselves to the Scholarship and Awards Committee through their program.

Master’s Academic Excellence Scholarship
Category Graduate Students, Master level
Value $2500
Application Deadline Variable
Full-time graduate students at Concordia University pursuing Master’s degrees who are Canadians, permanent residents, or international students are given a $2,500 scholarship. A Master’s Academic Excellence Scholarship recipient needs to be able to:
- Maintain a full-time enrollment in a master’s program.
- Each student with a cumulative G.P.A. of at least 3.3 is chosen annually for awards given in a restricted number to each program. The S.A.C. can reallocate any unused award allocations to other programs that qualify.
- It would help if you enrolled full-time in the following semester to get the prize paid.
Concordia automatically identifies students who qualify. There is no need to apply. Students are only eligible to obtain this honor once during their degree program. Students may qualify for a deferment of scholarship payments while on an authorized leave of absence. It is possible to combine the scholarship with other rewards.
