Eligibility
High achievers from the United States, Canada, Latin America, and the United Kingdom. Also from Europe, Asia, Papua New Guinea, Nigeria, Ghana, and the Middle East can apply for the International Excellence Scholarship.
International students transferring from joint programs, study abroad and exchange students, Australia Awards students, SACM students, and any other government scholarships/sponsorships providing full tuition are not eligible.
Applicants must:
- Be a foreign student starting their studies at JCU for the first time.
- Starting as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student, and not planning to enroll in diploma programs, End-on Honours degrees, Graduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Online and Non-Award Programs.
- If you are starting an undergraduate degree and have an ATAR of 65 (or above), you are not eligible for this award and should apply for the JCU Partners scholarship instead.
- A student must demonstrate achievement of 65% or above while starting a postgraduate degree, while a passing grade for a related certificate is 50%.

International Merit Stipend
the JCU International Merit Stipend offers fortnightly payments of A$400 to help with living expenses while a student at JCU, as long as the student maintains a strong GPA.

International On-Campus Accommodation Grant
This scholarship aims to support international full-degree students living and studying at JCU’s Cairns Nguma-bada campus.

Eligibility
The following candidates may apply for the International On Campus Accommodation Grant:
- An international student enrolled full-time (minimum nine credit points) in an undergraduate or graduate program starting in 2024.
- Have been applied or been offered to live at the Cairns, Nguma-bada campus of John Grey Hall Accommodations.
What to receive?
Following the census date of Study Period 1, 2024, you will receive $3,700 as a one-time payment if your grant application is approved. Kindly make the payment for up to six weeks following the date.
Selection Criteria
Applicants assessment will be on the following critical selection criteria:
- Engagement in social/athletic clubs, forums, contests, artistic, cultural, or religious events, among other activities; (30%)
- Experience in organizations; (15%)
- Ability and experience in leadership (15%)
- Suggested contributions to JCU’s campus and living arrangements (40%)
