Simon Fraser University (SFU) offers a variety of funding options for graduate students, including scholarships, awards, and fellowships. These awards can be based on academic merit, research experience, financial need, or a combination of factors.
Unique Graduate Entrance Scholarship (SGES)
The admissions committee awards SGES through an internal nomination procedure, and their value ranges from $1,000 to $10,000. The Faculty of Health Sciences will only consider students who have applied for its MSc or PhD program. If a student is nominated, the Faculty will include SGES in the funding commitment letter.
Graduate Fellowships
Students who meet the eligibility requirements for the Graduate Fellowship (GF), a one-term award typically worth $7,000, must have a GPA of 3.5 or above. At REM, the GFs are chosen by nomination. The students accept direct applications.

During the application period, a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 was required for those enrolled full-time in graduate school at SFU.
- The amount you pay for tuition is determined by the term rather than the number of units you are enrolled in, so that amount is what you must pay.
- During the application period, you will be enrolled.
- Your tuition is determined under a per-unit charge program, with the number of units you are enrolled in influencing the cost.
- During the application period, you must enroll in at least six units.
