Document Attestation from Austrian Embassy

Some Austrian colleges require applications to be sent with documentation certified by the Austrian Embassy. If your university requests it, you must submit documents that have been authenticated by the Austrian Embassy. If the university website doesn’t specify otherwise, your documents don’t need to be attested by the Austrian Embassy in order to be admitted. However, you will need to certify them for your visa; the Embassy states that this is a routine process that you must adhere to. Therefore, you must have the Austrian Embassy confirm your documents in either scenario. Here is a list of documents which the Austrian Embassy Attests.

  1. Academic Certificate (any degree awarded by a Pakistani institution, including FSc, BSc, and Metric). (University or Institute).
  2. Birth Certificate (Embassy verifies your birth by sending and advocate to your local area union council)
  3. Police Clearance Certificate or Police Certificate.

The verification process is the initial step in this attestation process. Each of your documents is verified by the embassy through an affiliated third party organization. They get paid by the Embassy for this. Thus, in order to have your documents validated, you must pay the Embassy. The Embassy charges Pkr 28000. Remember that this is the cost of verification. The embassy will contact you after the documents are validated to arrange for the originals to be transcribed. The signature of the counselor or ambassador will be stamped on the back of your original documents by the Embassy. For attestation, they will charge 80 euros (eighty euros only) for each of your documents. The equal sum must be paid in Pakistani Rupees.

  1. It is preferable to schedule an appointment with the embassy for verification or attestation.
  2. Without an appointment. You have to be there early in the morning to have your name written at the gate.
  3. After the embassy is done with people with appointments, it will call you inside. But your turn may not come if there are too many people there. So it’s good to make an appointment.
  4. Embassy only attests your original documents and not photocopies. You will send photocopies of these attested documents to your university.

Accommodation Issues

You must present documentation demonstrating you have lodging for your stay in Austria when you apply for a residence permit as a student. You have to have reserved a room in a dorm or hostel for this. For this reason, you must get in touch with your university; if they offer student housing, they will provide it to you; if not, you will need to make your own arrangements for housing. In Austria, there are numerous dorms and hostels for students called;

1. Home 4 Students website: http://www.home4students.at/

2. Mozartheim website: http://www.mozart.uni-klu.ac.at/

3. Studentheim website: http://www.studentenheim.at/

Book your room there and they will provide you with an agreement that you will submit to the embassy as a proof of accommodation.

Health insurance in Austria

Health insurance is a must fin Austria. You have to get it once you arrive here. It costs you 50 Euros per month which is low as compared to Germany, where you have to pay 68 Euros per month. You have to get some travel health insurance when you apply for Residence permit from Pakistan. You have to get Insurance of at least 1 year from your expected travel/arrival to start of your study period. You will submit this insurance certificate with your Residence Permit Application. Once you are here, you will apply for student health insurance at a local insurance company. This health insurance is in fact local to whole Europe.

Bank statement Requirement

If you are not holder of a scholarship, then you have to prove that you have sufficient funds to cover the expense of one or two years. Austria, require you to show sufficient money for one year. Money for One year for Austria is around 9500 Euros (Nine Thousand Five Hundred Euros only). It changes a little bit every year. (Usually, increases). This amount of money is more than any other country in Europe. This is because Austria is a little bit more expansive then other European countries.
