Toronto Met International Student Scholarships (TMISS)

The Toronto Met Overseas Student Scholarship (TMISS) supports a few overseas students enrolling in doctorate engineering programs. A funding source, except for the cost of tuition for international students, can be combined with a TMGDA to hold a TMISS.

Value and duration: $7,000, non-renewable.

Eligibility

A current candidate in one of Toronto Met’s doctorate engineering programs who is studying abroad.

Application deadline

There is no deadline. All PhD students studying engineering automatically consider themselves for these prizes.

Terms and conditions

1. If you are an incoming student, you will forfeit your funding offer if you do not accept your offer of admission before the confirmation deadline.

2. A funding offer is not transferable to other graduate programs at Toronto Metropolitan University.  

3. Only the time frame specified in the offer is eligible for funding.

4. Each month you receive funding, you must maintain full-time enrollment and actively engage in academic pursuits.

5. If you do not fulfill these terms and conditions, you will be liable for the full cost of repair or funding.

6. Must also adhere to any other terms and conditions related to Toronto Metropolitan

University’s processing of your funding and any internal or external funding you may receive.

Bridging Divides Graduate Student Stipend

PhD – Entrance stipend: Up to $30,000 per year for domestic and $40,000 for international, renewable for up to four years, subject to annual review of the student’s progress and the availability of funds. Accessible to potential first-year PhD candidates starting in Fall 2024 at Toronto Metropolitan University.

First-year PhD applicants, please refer to the additional guidelines for FEAS applicants.

Candidates must follow the instructions and requirements of each program when applying to a PhD program at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Requirements for online applications

1. ID number for Toronto Metropolitan University.

2. Which program(s) have you applied for.

3. Resume.

4. Transcript.

5. Statement of Purpose/Letter of Intent from application for PhD program.

6. Example of Writing (up to 10 pages).

7. BD motivation letter (maximum of two pages) expressing the applicant’s desire to apply for the Bridging Divides Graduate Stipend, justifying the award, and elucidating the connection between the applicant’s research and at least one of the four research themes listed on the BD website.

8. If the candidate is admitted into the PhD program at Toronto Metropolitan University, their application for the BD Graduate Student Stipend will be considered.
